Za'al Ghassan Abdel-'Al was born in 1993; he is a Lebanese citizen from the Halta agricultural area belonging to the village of Kfar Shouba in Hazbaya district in South Lebanon. He works in agriculture and owns a butcher shop, and he is one of the breadwinners of his family.
On 3 September 2026, invading Zionist occupation forces invaded Halta, ordered residents to remain in their homes, and then invaded multiple houses and detained three residents: Za'al, Qassem Abdel-'Al, and Hatem Abdel-'Al, a member of the Kfar Shouba municipality. While Hatem was released later that day, the withdrawing "Israeli" forces took Qassem and Za'al with them.
Since his abduction, as of 21 September 2026, there has been no official acknowledgment of his detention, evidence of life, or contact with his family or a lawyer; like all Lebanese prisoners, he is denied visits by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
