Shawqi Attiyeh

Shawqi Attiyeh is one of three farmers who was abducted from the town of Rashaya al-Fukhar in Hasbaya district in South Lebanon on May 19, 2026, by invading Zionist occupation soldiers, along with his brother, Ahmad Attiyeh, and their cousin, Ali Attiyeh. All three are from the village of Halta and were out in their orchards in Rashaya al-Fukhar planting their land when an occupation forces invaded the area and abducted a number of farmers.

After hours of detention and interrogation, their mobile phones confiscated, several of the farmers were released, while the three men of the Attiyeh family remained captive. In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Iman Shibli, Shawqi's wife, said that her husband and family are forced to work the fields "under the eyes of the occupation" due to the difficult living conditions and economic situation.

“We are a family that lives day by day from the labor of the land. If my husband and his brother do not go to the fields, we cannot provide food for our children....We have not seen any serious movement from the Lebanese state or the responsible officials to reassure us or inform us of the fate of our loved ones. Are we not citizens of this state? We only want to know their fate and hear any news that will comfort our hearts.”
