Yahya Mohammed Skaf, born in 1959, and from the village of Al-Minya, has been held captive since 11 March 1978 by the Zionist occupation, since he participated in the famous Kamal 'Adwan operation led by Dalal al-Mughrabi, entering occupied Palestine from the coast. He was a Lebanese participant in the Palestinian revolution and the struggle for the liberation of Palestine through the Fateh movement, acting together in resistance with his Palestinian comrades and participating in a unique operation via sea, which aimed to capture Zionist prioners in order to secure the release of imprisoned Palestinians.
The buses they had captured were attacked in a Zionist military assault, and the fedayeen fought to defend themselves and free the prisoners for which they launched the operation. In the end, 37 Israelis were killed and 82 wounded and 11 fedayeen were martyred, while two, including Yahya Skaf, were wounded and arrested. The occupation also retained the bodies of the martyrs, including that of Dalal Mughrabi, which is detained to this day alongside over 1700 Palestinian martyrs' bodies held captive in the morgues and "numbers cemeteries" of the occupation.
The Skaf family received conflicting reports that Yahya had been captured or martyred. However, several freed Palestinian prisoners, including Ismail Hussein, Mohammed Abu al-Raed and Jamal Mahroum, reported that they had seen Yahya inside occupation prisons during their decades behind bars. In 2008, the occupation claimed to return the remains of Yahya Skaf alongside those of Dalal Mughrabi in a prisoner exchange between the occupation and the Lebanese Islamic Resistance, Hezbollah. However, both families reported that after performing DNA tests, the remains did not belong to the missing fedayeen.
